Military shoots at least 1 civilian in FT Hood TX
One person was killed and two others were injured during a shooting following a large brawl at the Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area (BLORA) on the night of Saturday, May 23, 2026.
The park, which is a federal military reservation operated by Fort Hood (officially designated as Fort Cavazos), was open to the public when the incident occurred.

A 17-year-old senior at Harker Heights High School who was scheduled to graduate this week. She tragically succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital.

21-Year-Old Male: An unaffiliated civilian who was hospitalized, underwent emergency surgery, and remains in stable condition.
U.S. Service Member: Sustained minor injuries during the incident, was treated at the scene, and subsequently released.

Reports indicate that alcohol and weapons were present. According to local updates from KWTX News 10 and video circulating on social media, the initial physical alterations quickly escalated when multiple gunshots were fired into the crowd.Two Fort Hood military police (MP) officers responded directly to the brawl.
Video evidence indicates that responding MPs fired rounds at the scene while trying to neutralize the active threat and secure the running crowd.
